Cartridge electric heaters

Description

The cartridge electric heaters are components suitable for the electrical heating of metal parts (e.g. molds) and liquid and gaseous fluids. These resistors are composed of the heating elements, the fixing elements (threaded nipples, threaded bushings, flanges, etc.) and the electrical connection systems (threaded terminals or electrical connection cables). The heating elements can be “coupled” to the fixing elements and assembled to the electrical connection systems. The heating elements consist of resistive wires (electrical resistances) inserted and isolated from the external tubular sheaths in which they are inserted. The electrical insulation between the resistances and the external tubular sheaths is obtained with a mineral insulator: magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide, in addition to being a good electrical insulator, guarantees excellent heat transmission from the electrical resistance to the external tubular sheath. The external tubular sheaths can be made of the following materials:

  • AISI 304 or AISI 321 stainless steel;
  • incoloy 800.

The fastening elements can be made of brass, carbon steel (untreated, galvanized or nickel-plated) or stainless steel and are “coupled” to the heating elements with welding systems (brazing or tig) or crimping.

A variant of the aforementioned resistors is represented by strip electric resistors. These resistors are composed of heating elements which are made up of resistive wires (electrical resistances) inserted first in steatite “cores” and then in rectangular tubular sheaths. The electrical insulation between the resistances and the external rectangular tubular sheaths is obtained from the steatite core and magnesium oxide. The insulation system (“core” in steatite + magnesium oxide) as well as being a good electrical insulator, guarantees excellent heat transmission from the electrical resistance to the outer sheath. The rectangular sheaths are in AISI 304 or AISI 321 stainless steel in the format sect. 40×10 (mm).

The use of “precious” metal alloys such as Incoloy 800, the use of innovative equipment for the manufacture of heating elements, the adoption of the most modern welding and crimping systems combined with the use of the most modern testing equipment of the product, guarantees the manufacture of products with high performance and a high level of quality and reliability.

On request, the cartridge and strip electric heaters can be equipped with systems for detecting the temperature. All types of cartridge electric heaters are components made in compliance with the technical specifications required by the customer.
